https://www.mpi.nl/department/psychology-language/5 The Psychology of Language Department of the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen (Netherlands) is interested in how talkers manage to produce the right words at the right time and how listeners are capable of understanding speech produced at different rates and in noisy environments.
https://www.mpi.nl/department/language-and-genetics/2 At the Language and Genetics Department of the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen (Netherlands), we aim to uncover the DNA variations which ultimately affect different facets of our communicative abilities, not only in children with language-related disorders but also in the general population. In addition, we hope to trace the evolutionary history and worldwide diversity of key genes, which may shed new light on language origins. In the picture we see immunofluorescence staining showing the cerebellum with Foxp2 (blue) located within the Purkinje cells (magenta), and glutamate transporters (green).
